(CQNEWS) A total of 2.21 million people of Chongqing have carried the cooperative medical insurance for urban and rural residents by now, according to Chongqing Labour and Social Security Bureau yesterday.
　  Chongqing started to provide the cooperative medical insurance for urban and rural residents last year. It makes the children, students, old people and poor urban citizens enjoy medical security. Yongchuan, Nanchuan, Nan’an, Jiangbei, Jiulongpo districts of Chongqing became the first batch of pilot districts to provide the insurance, and 1.94 million urban and rural residents of these districts have carried the insurance since October 1 last year.
　  Chongqing Municipal Government added 21 pilot districts and counties to provide the insurance this year, and some of them have started the work.
